In Loving Memory of Raymond Moreno.
Raymond Moreno, 84, of Sacramento, California, peacefully entered into eternal rest on March 4, 2026. Surrounded by the love of the family he cherished so deeply, Raymond was called home to be with the Lord after a long life marked by faith, devotion, and unwavering dedication to those around him.
Raymond was born on June 28, 1941, in Florence, Kansas, to Alejo Moreno and Anita Mendoza. He was born into a large family, 18 siblings total. Raised with humble beginnings, Raymond learned early in life the value of hard work, perseverance, and trusting in God's guidance. These lessons shaped the man he would become—a man whose life reflected strength, humility, and compassion for others.
As a young teenager, Raymond began working as a farm worker in Huron, Kettleman City, and Coalinga, California. And later at the age of 16 he started training horses in Lockeford. The work was demanding, but Raymond embraced it with determination and pride. Long days in the fields taught him the meaning of sacrifice and responsibility, values he carried with him throughout his life as he worked tirelessly to provide for his family.
Raymond found a calling that reflected his compassionate heart. He served his community as an Alcoholic Counselor for San Joaquin County, helping those who were struggling find strength, hope, and a new path forward. With patience and understanding, Raymond listened without judgment and offered guidance to those in need. His work touched many lives and reflected the kindness and grace he believed every person deserved.
Raymond was known as a man who never liked to sit still. He believed in staying busy, fixing what needed fixing, and helping wherever he could. Over the years he worked many maintenance and service jobs, always bringing pride and dedication to everything he did. One place where many remember him fondly was Firestone Tires. There, Raymond not only worked hard but also built friendships and brightened people's days. He became well known for grilling hot dogs, creating moments of laughter and fellowship that many still remember.
While Raymond worked hard and served his community faithfully, the greatest blessing of his life was his family.
In 1955, Raymond met the love of his life, Ramona Camacho. Their story began with a first date at the Esquire Theatre, a simple evening that would become the beginning of a love story that lasted more than six decades. Through life's many joys and challenges, their love remained steadfast.
Raymond and Ramona shared 67 beautiful years of marriage and were blessed with eight children: Ruby Fuentes, Rachel Hopkins, Renee Rodriguez, Rita Madrigal, Regina Vidadure, Ramona Alonzo, Raymond Moreno, and Rolinda Carbury. Raymond took great pride in being a father. He worked hard to ensure his children were cared for, teaching them the importance of honesty, resilience, and putting family first.
As the years passed, Raymond's family continued to grow, and his heart grew even fuller. He was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Each new generation was a reminder of the beautiful legacy he and Ramona had built together. He cherished every visit, every story shared, and every moment spent surrounded by the family he loved so dearly.
Though we grieve his passing, we find comfort in knowing that Raymond now rests in the eternal peace promised by God. His journey on this earth was one of perseverance, love, and service, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Raymond is survived by his beloved wife, Ramona Moreno, his children, his brother, Henry Moreno; and his sister, Rachel Smith. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends who will forever treasure the love and memories he shared with them.
Although Raymond has left this earthly life, his legacy remains alive in the family he nurtured, the lives he touched, and the love he gave so freely. Raymond's work here is finished, and he now rests in the peace of God's eternal embrace.
Raymond had a prayer by his recliner which he read often and used in life; God Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the Courage to change the things I can and the Wisdom to know the difference.
A celebration of Raymond's life will be held at the Rotary Grove on March 14th at 12 noon where family and friends will gather to honor his memory, share stories, and celebrate the life of a man whose love and faith will never be forgotten.
Raymond Moreno will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
