Revenia Hart-Brewer, age 99, of Gary, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born February 3, 1926, in Irondale, Ohio, Revenia affectionately known as "Venne" and "Big Mama" was the matriarch of eight siblings and lived a full life just short of her 100th birthday marked by faith, strength, and compassion.
At an early age Revenia, her mom, and two sisters moved to Saginaw, Michigan. Revenia attended Potter elementary and Central High School before moving to Gary, Indiana where she attended Frobel and Roosevelt High School.
On March 4, 1943, she married Lenzy London Brewer Sr., to this union they were blessed to have six children.
Revenia worked during World War II at the Tub Works factory, helped organize a union through the Manpower Program, and later devoted 30 years managing Musin Fish Market until retirement. Revenia loved dancing, word-search puzzles, music, cheering for the Chicago Bulls, and sitting on her front porch "people watching".
Revenia loved her family unconditionally and her house was a home where she opened her doors to not only her family but all of her children's and grandchildren's friends. She was the anchor of her family. Revenia believed if you live right and be kind to people, God will Bless you! Her favorite gospel song is "His Eye Is On The Sparrow". Revenia will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She was preceded in death by her parents Roosevelt Hart and Lucille Gray; her beloved husband, Lenzy L. Brewer Sr.; sons William (Buster) and Kevin Brewer; daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Brewer Neal; sisters Sona Carruth and Barbra Pickett-Davis; brothers Larry, Elliott, Jerry, and William (Billy) Gray; grandson Jackita Gilliam (Jihad Muhammad); son-in-law William Neal.
She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Lenzy (Vermell) Brewer Jr., Celestine (Frank) Jones, Lenetta Brewer, daughter-in-law Brenda Brewer; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister Connie Dean Hart; many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and best friends in Heaven.
