Reynold Bowen, wrote books. A teacher at a Dutch university until a nearly fatal stroke required him to take an early retirement. Rey was born in Cleveland, Ohio, lived in The Netherlands for the last nearly 50 years. His first book, Altercations, was the first of the trilogy, 'The Core of Civilization". A galactic adventure category. The hero of Altercations, involved in photography, which is an old craft by the time of the book, is also a superhero, able to defend and protect his loved ones.

Rey was a Veteran of the U S Army during the Vietnam War, Summa Cum Laude graduate from Ohio University in architectural photography, and art history. Rey Bowen was a direct descendant of Lorenzo Carter, one of the founders of Cleveland, and first resident.

Rey passed peacefully in his home at; Porterslann 25, 6114MG, Susteren, The Netherlands. A memorial gathering in his home on March 14th, 2026, would have been Rey's 79th Birthday.

Surviving are his widow and loving wife and caretaker Renee Bowen-Boesten and his daughter Natascha Lamine and husband Edwin Lamine. He is also survived by his sisters, Lynne M Bowen-Fournier, of Virginia, Lenore H Bowen, of Ohio and Diane E Roytz, of Florida. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, integrity, and gentle spirit.
