Richard Thomas Allen

Richard Thomas "Dick" Allen transitioned to his heavenly home on March 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, while under Hospice Care.

He was preceded in death by his father Cecil Allen, his mother Garnet Allen and his brother Charles Allen.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years Evelyn Darlene Allen; his three sons: Robert Thomas Allen of Ashland, KY, Richard Steven Allen (Deborah) of Daphne, AL and Donald Mark Allen (Patricia) of Lawrenceburg, KY; his five grandchildren: Charles Richard Allen (Christina) of Santa Monica, CA, Nicholas Steven Allen (Elise) of Aloha, OR, Wesley Nathaniel Allen (Sarah) of Amherst, NH, Benjamin Mark Allen of Lawrenceburg, KY and Rachel Ann Helton (Gary) of Lawrenceburg, KY; as well as ten great grandchildren.

Richard exemplified a life well-lived. Throughout his life, he was a loving and engaged father and husband. He retired from Armco Steel Corporation and its predecessors after 37 dedicated years. Richard loved the Ashland community, serving in roles that made a difference in Ashland and beyond. He was a member of the King's Daughters Hospital Board of Directors, the Ashland Public Library Board of Directors, the Kentucky Committee on Education Improvement, Chairman of the Ashland Independent Schools Board of Education, President of Ashland Little League and was actively involved in many other community-building efforts. Richard was a longtime active member of Ashland First United Methodist Church, where he served on numerous committees, including the Finance Committee and Administrative Board.



Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM on Friday March 13, 2026, at the STEEN FUNERAL HOME 13th STRRET CHAPEL by Rev. Jeff Bramel. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
