1945 - 2026

Richard Lee Arnold, affectionately known as "Big Dick," passed away on April 1, 2026, in Maricopa, Arizona, at the age of 81. Born on February 28, 1945, in Moline, Illinois, to Oren and Irene Arnold, Richard lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a passion for racing.

A graduate of Moline High School in 1963, Richard carried with him a strong work ethic that defined his life. He was deeply committed to his family, often working multiple jobs to provide opportunities and support for his loved ones. His dedication and perseverance were admired by all who knew him.

Richard had a lifelong love for racing and was an active member of ABC Racing alongside close friends. The camaraderie and excitement of the sport brought him immense joy. A skilled mechanic with a talent for repairing vending machines, he was known for his resourcefulness and ingenuity. In his leisure time, he found comfort in watching westerns, a pastime he greatly enjoyed.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife Ellen Arnold; his children Ric Fiebig (Maureen), Lisa Arnold (Terry Miel), Terri Peak (Lee Peak), Mark Miller (Laura Miller), and stepdaughter Marsha Black. He was a proud grandfather to Jesse Fiebig, Sheena Bacerra, Chris Arnold, and Kyle Fiebig, as well as a great-grandfather to 12 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Oren and Irene Arnold; his first wife Liz Arnold; his children Mark Arnold and Dorothy Arnold; his siblings Harry Arnold, Norman "Bunk" Arnold, Jack Arnold, Bertha Arnold, Betty Snook, and Phyllis Griffin; and three grandchildren: Jennifer Elizabeth Ballou, Amber Goodwin-Arnold, and Matthew Becerra.

Richard's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him. His unwavering dedication to family and tireless work ethic leave behind an enduring legacy of love and perseverance. May his memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to share in his remarkable journey.
