Richard ("Rick") James Barnet passed away on November 13, 2025. Born in Los Angeles in 1940 to Meyer James Barnet and Katherine Amorette (Roush) Barnet, he grew up in Southern California, and showed an early aptitude for drawing and painting. A lifelong Angelino, he attended Occidental College, earned his law degree from UCLA, and spent his professional life as an attorney for the State of California.
His interests were reading, writing, art, music and travel, which he was able to enjoy fully during his retirement. Rick is preceded in death by his father, mother, and brothers (William and Thomas), and is survived by his children: Maria Barnet, Lisa Barnet, Robert Ellison, and Michael Ellison.
He will be remembered at a family-only service on the afternoon of Saturday, December 6.
