Richard Clinton Scott was born on August 9, 1979, at Toledo Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. He was the second child born to Patricia E. Scott (2021) and Hillary E. Scott. Richard graduated from Rogers High School. After high school, he served in the Army branch of the U.S. Military. While Rich was active in the military, he participated in many fields. He was a Soldier, Medic, Marksman, and a Paratrooper. Rich was awarded his medals in Marksmanship and Paratrooping. After the military, Rich continued his role in the medical field as a phlebotomist and began working at Toledo Hospital. He then furthered his education and attended Owens Community College and obtained certification in HVAC and Pipefitting. This led him to become a member of Local Fifty as a journeyman. He proudly retired from Local Fifty in 2026. He married Sheri Smith-Scott. Rich has two beautiful children, Arya Scott and Ashlynn Edgecombe. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Rich impacted so many people; he was a father figure to many. He enjoyed helping people in so many different ways. That’s just the way he was, and I loved that about him! He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved watching movies with his girls, shooting pool, playing cards, family gatherings, and would consider himself a Grill Master. His favorite season was fall, despite the likes of summer backyard get-togethers. Rich and his football, the Dallas Cowboys, and his “The” Ohio State football team. He will be missed by all who knew him. Richard leaves to cherish his memory wife, Sheri; daughters Arya and Ashlynn; father, Hillary Scott, sisters Hilary (Ronnie) Searles, Angela (Odell) Harris; brother, Bryant Scott and a host of nieces, nephews, beloved relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements have been made under the care of The House of Day Funeral Service, Inc., at 2550 Nebraska Avenue Toledo, OH, on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Family hour will be at 10:00 am. Funeral service begins at 11:00 am. Burial services will take place immediately following at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery (1502 Central Ave, Toledo, OH).
