Richard Cohen, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, left us peacefully on December 8, 2025 at the age of 88. Richard, lived a long, rich life defined by warmth, generosity, and a remarkable ability to bring people together. His legacy shines brightly in the family he adored and the countless lives he touched.
Richard was, at his core, a gregarious person always ready with a joke, a story, or a reassuring hand on a shoulder. He never met a stranger; instead, he collected friends everywhere he went. His laughter filled rooms, and his presence made even ordinary days feel memorable.
A devoted husband to Lynn, Richard built a life grounded in partnership, love, and unwavering support. As a father and grandfather, he created a family known for its closeness, warmth, and deep connections and was always a dependable steadying force in their lives.
Richard graduated from Babson College. Professionally, he thrived as a stockbroker, earning the trust of his clients through his keen insight, integrity, and unshakable dedication. His exceptional skills were matched only by his personal touch. Richard made people feel seen and valued. His clients often became friends, drawn to the same warmth and good humor his family knew so well. He worked full-time tirelessly, until the week before he died.
Beloved husband of Lynn. Son of the late Ruby and Jessie Cohen. Devoted father of David Cohen (Lisa), Gayle Hodus (Matthew), Jill Rorem (Matthew) Deborah DeFrancesco (Christopher), and the late Randi Cohen; Cherished grandfather of Amanda Lambert (Bill), Lauren Goodwin (Sam), Jake and Rebecca Cohen, Hazel and Dash Rorem, Molly and Dylan DeFrancesco; loving brother of Alan Cohen (Merle) and the late Donald Cohen; treasured uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Temple Emeth in Chestnut Hill, MA on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Interment followed at Sharon Memorial Park. Shiva will be held on Wednesday immediately following burial at the home of Gayle and Matt Hodus until 7 pm and continuing on Thursday, December 11th from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, and Friday, December 12th from 1-4pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
