Richard Dufton

Richard Arthur Dufton Jr passed away Wednesday December 10 in the company of his loved ones. Rick was a true native of Portsmouth NH, born to Barbara Jeanne Dufton and Richard Arthur Dufton Sr. on September 11, 1951. He graduated Portsmouth High School and became a business owner many times over providing for his family while successfully building several moving companies until eventually becoming a one man band driving his big rig up and down the Eastern seaboard. Rick was at one time the President of the Anchor Club of Portsmouth and a member of Corpus Christi Parish.
His discipline and work ethic remains unparalleled, the man built our better lives on his back.

Dad was a perpetual jokester, always looking for the laugh. Ricky had such natural comedic timing and anyone who knew him could always count on his contagious mirth bringing so much enjoyable light to everyday life. He was really good at living and always willing to remind us of and share in the simple pleasures life has to offer. He was passionate about adventures with his kids when they were younger, always escaping to the mountains for winter ski trips, camping lakeside for long summer weekends, braving the fastest rides with us at all the amusement parks. He was the embodiment of vitality and charisma. He will be remembered sweetly and dearly missed.

Rick is survived by his devoted ex-wife Kathaleen Dufton, his children Ericka, "Christi-belle" Christina and Joshua Dufton. His step children John Ovadek and his spouse Michelle, Jennifer Philbrick and her husband Jeffrey.
His legacy carries on through his many grandchildren Norah Love, Beowulf Delos, Emily Saoirse, Zachary John, Madison Lee, Jordan Victoria, Kailee Evelyn, Amber Marie, Josephine Marion, Coleman John and Carmen Grace.
He also leaves behind his step brother Jack Pekarski.

He is predeceased by his father Richard Dufton Sr, his mother, Barbara Jeanne, step mother Ruth Dufton, his Uncle David, and his step daughter Vicki Lynn Shepard. 

Dad always held a deep compassion for those in which he recognized his own struggles with addiction. His moment of prolonged sobriety was hard earned and gave him a quality of life that filled all of our hearts with memories and laughter.

There will be a funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Summer St in Portsmouth on February 16th at 10:00 AM
