Richard Charles Endris, age 78, of Campbellsburg, Kentucky passed away on November 20, 2025, at Forest Springs Health Campus in Louisville, Kentucky.
Known better to most as Rick or Rich, he was born on January 7, 1947, in New Albany, Indiana. He graduated from Georgetown High School in 1965. While there, he played basketball, ran track, participated in Glee Club and Yearbook Staff. As a senior, he was named Mr. GHS, plus was Homecoming King. After high school, Richard served in the United States Air Force. He worked as a radar technician that took him to Texas, Thailand and Vietnam. This experience laid the foundation for a lifelong interest in electronics and technology. Following his military service, He embarked on a career as an air traffic controller in Cleveland and Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a package handler at DHL. He then worked over 20 years as a Senior Field Representative and Engineer maintaining scanning equipment for major clients for Access Corporation, Scan Optics and finally retiring from Fujitsu Computer Products.
Richard had a wide range of interests. He was passionate about politics and enjoyed spirited discussions on current events. A lover of reading, he spent hours in the works of Louis L'Amour, Lee Child, and James Patterson. He also had a knack for technology—particularly computers—and liked fixing old televisions. Music brought him joy throughout his life; he played the guitar and especially appreciated the voices of Barbra Streisand, Reba McEntire, and Celine Dion. When not reading or tinkering with electronics, Richard loved to fish anywhere, from his small pond on his property to being on a boat at Rough River, Kentucky. For many years he had a wonderful garden, and canned tons of fruits and vegetables. His applesauce was the best if you asked his family. When outside, you usually found him with a cleaned out peanut butter jar filled with water or tea, in some sort of flannel shirt or coat and his signature red bandana tied around his neck.
Richard is survived by his daughters Dana Endris of Cincinnati OH and Heather (Alex) Hyde of New Castle KY; grandchildren James Bradley Morton of Norman OK, Abbey (Jackson) Scott of El Paso TX, Brittany (Taylor) Dryden of Cincinnati OH, Haley Hyde of Beavercreek OH, and Isabel Endris of Cincinnati OH; as well as several nieces and nephews, many cousins and two sisters-in-law. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Frank Leo Endris and Sarah Marie (Heilig) Endris; as well as his brothers Daniel (Danny) Frank Endris and James (Jim) Michael Endris.
Richard will be buried early this spring at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, Kentucky; After a short ceremony, there will be a Celebration of Life at the Point Pleasant Christian Church in Eminence, Kentucky. The exact date and times will be shared as the time draws nearer.
