Richard "Rick" Garner Sr., age 56, passed away on April 9, 2026, in Flint, Michigan. Born on May 5, 1969, in Pontiac, Michigan, Rick lived a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

Rick was the proud owner of a longtime lawn care and snow removal business. Over the years, he recruited family and friends to work alongside him, creating not just a thriving enterprise but also countless cherished memories with those closest to him. His dedication to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family and his zest for life.

Rick is survived by his loving mother, Bonnie Garner; his children: Richard Garner II and his wife Ashley, Cory Garner and his wife Meggan, and Samantha Rodebaugh and her husband Dustin. He was a proud grandfather to Hunter, Aubrey, Avery, Joslyn, Julian, Miya, Anthony, Beecher, and Charlotte and a great-grandfather to Nylah. Rick's sister Bronda Wood also survives him along with her children Adrianna Wood (fiancé Doug) and Jasper Newman. He also held a special place as a great-uncle to Levi, Cooper, and Wyatt.

Rick had an undeniable charisma that made him the life of every party. Whether he was fishing or hunting in the great outdoors, boating on serene waters, or hosting family barbecues filled with laughter and good food, Rick brought joy wherever he went. His love for family parties was unmatched—he had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved, it will never be the same.

Known for his humor and flirtatious charm, Rick was truly one of a kind. A beloved uncle and "Papa" to many, he left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His larger-than-life personality ensured that no gathering would ever be dull in his presence. A self-proclaimed "mama's boy," Rick shared an especially close bond with his mother Bonnie—a relationship that brought warmth to all who witnessed it.

Rick's legacy as a family man will live on through the countless memories he created with those he loved most. His unique spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As those who loved him gather together in the days ahead to celebrate his life, they will undoubtedly remember his infectious laughter and the way he made every moment brighter.

In celebration of Rick's vibrant life and love for bringing people together, a Celebration of Life will be held on what would have been his 57th birthday—May 5, 2026—from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at VFW Post 822 located at 800 Cesar E Chavez Ave., Pontiac, Michigan.

Rick's memory will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. May his legacy bring comfort to all who mourn his passing while celebrating the remarkable life he lived.
