Send Flowers
Richard (Richie) Brian Gorden of Sharon, Massachusetts passed away on January 24, 2026 at the age of 72, surrounded by his family. Devoted husband of Roberta for nearly 50 years, sharing a life built on love, laughter and unwavering support. Proud and loving father of Darren and his wife Jen of Princeton, NJ, and Jason and his wife Arielle of Medfield, MA. His greatest joy was being "Grandpa" to his adored grandchildren — Jack, Addie, Benjamin, Austin, and Taylor — each of whom shared a special bond with him. Proud grandpa of his beloved grandpup, Willow. Brother of Cheryl Gorden and Jane Bray. Uncle, cousin, and friend to many who meant so much to him.

Richie was born on March 26, 1953 in Springfield, MA to Herman and Thelma "Marvelie" Gorden. He was raised in Ware, MA and graduated from Ware High School, where he played trumpet in the marching band. He attended the University of Connecticut, where he met Roberta, the love of his life, with whom he built a devoted and loving family.

Richie's professional journey reflected his curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit. From running a garden center to starting a popcorn business, he eventually found his true calling in real estate, where he became known as "your neighborhood realtor" for more than 35 years. Richie didn't just help people buy and sell homes — he guided them with patience, honesty, and genuine care. Many clients became lifelong friends, drawn to his calm presence, and steady reassurance during what could be a stressful process.

After settling in Sharon, Richie quickly became woven into the fabric of the community. What started with coaching Darren and Jason's sports teams grew into decades of service and involvement. He coordinated Sharon Recreation basketball, refereed and oversaw referees for the Recreation Department, served on the boards of Sharon Community Television, the Board of Assessors, and the Council on Aging, and was an active member of the Sharon Men's Club.

Richie never sought recognition; he simply enjoyed meeting people and forming genuine connections, always ready to help wherever he was needed. Whether volunteering in Sharon, enjoying time at the beach, or cheering on his beloved Boston sports teams, he approached life with his trademark humor and boundless optimism.

His greatest joy came from being a husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family deeply and would do anything for them—especially his five grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

Above all else, Richie was one of the kindest and most generous people anyone could hope to know. Whether you were family, a friend, a client, or a stranger, he had a way of making you feel heard, supported, and welcome. His steady, calming presence left a lasting mark on everyone lucky enough to know him.

He will be missed deeply, remembered always, and carried forward in the lives and hearts of those he loved and those who loved him.

Funeral services are Thursday, January 29th at 11:00am at Temple Israel in Sharon, MA. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
