Richard Alan Hartzo, 59, passed away on December 12, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family in Kathleen, Georgia. Born on June 7, 1966, in Bainbridge, Georgia, Richard lived a life rooted in dedication—to his family, his faith, and his craft.
A graduate of Albany Technical College, Richard pursued a career as a master mechanic. His expertise and commitment earned the respect of both colleagues and customers. Whether working under the hood or mentoring others in the field, he brought precision and pride to every task.
Richard was also a devoted Christian who answered a spiritual calling by becoming an ordained minister. Through his online ministry, The Church of the Rising Son, he shared messages of faith and encouragement that touched many lives.
In his personal time, Richard enjoyed building model airplanes and fishing—hobbies that reflected his creativity and appreciation for quiet moments in nature.
He was a loving son to Thelma C. Hartzo and the late Charles D. Hartzo Sr., and a caring brother to Charles D. Hartzo II and Jennifer L. Brooks. He held dear the memory of his brother Michael P. Hartzo. Richard was a devoted father to Mickile A. Hartzo (Mary), Suzannah C. Hartzo, Alexandrea L. Livings (Layton), and Alexander W. Hartzo (Amanda). His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Abel L. Moore, Alijah R. Hartzo, Sadie J. Kirk, John R. Kirk Jr., Zoey A. Livings, and Jacob E. Bunn.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 20, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at The Bridge, 2758 US-41.
May Richard's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and serve as a lasting reminder of a life lived with purpose, faith, and love.
