Richard "Rick" Wright Jack passed away peacefully on December 24th after a long and courageous battle with cancer and other health challenges. He faced each challenge with strength, fierceness, and an unrelenting determination that defined his life.
Born in Georgia, and raised in California and later Japan, Rick was the son of Captain James C. Jack and Helen Drew Jack. Aviation ran deep in his family, and Rick proudly carried on that legacy, as a 727 Captain. As a skilled pilot, aviation expert, and executive, he was deeply passionate about the industry and respected for his knowledge, precision, and drive.
Rick was known for being determined, direct, detail-oriented, tough yet fair, and compassionate. Rick was a Force. He had a magnetic presence, and particularly enjoyed being greeted with the words, "Rick, you're a great guy." Beneath his outgoing nature was a quiet, steady strength that provided support and comfort to many friends and family members throughout his life.
A devoted husband and loving father, Rick met his wife, Alice, in San Francisco. Together they started their family in Mill Valley, later raising their two children, Lisa and Dave in Hillsborough, where they lovingly restored a beautiful English estate, before settling in Loomis, California. Rick loved basketball, skiing, Ferraris, coaching his children's sports teams, and most of all, spending time with his wife, family, and friends.
Despite the health challenges he faced later in life, Rick never lost his warmth, kindness, or love for others. His final days were marked by peace, calm, and the love and presence of family and friends.
Rick is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alice; his daughter, Lisa Giudicelli, and her husband Mike of Penryn, California; his son, Dave Jack, and his wife Caitlin of Truckee, California; and his beloved grandchildren, Jaxon and Hunter of Penryn, and Ellie and James of Truckee.
Rick leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and generosity that will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 21st from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at his home in Loomis, California. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his memory be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
