Richard S. Jakaus Sr.

Richard Scott Jakaus Sr., of Nashua, NH, formerly of South Boston, MA, passed away unexpectedly on January 18, 2026. He was born on December 15, 1969, in Boston, MA, to the late Richard and Maureen (Shea) Jakaus.

He was the beloved father of Tammy and her husband Dave of Everett; Richard Jr. (Richie) and his wife Angela of Maryland; Brendan and his wife Evelin of Malden; and Kayla Juliano of Michigan. He was a loving Papa to Adam, Kennedy, Gemma, James, Nathan, Ann, Zara, and Raven. Richard was the eldest brother of Sean and Kenneth Jakaus.

Richard enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 19 and was honorably discharged. He then began his career with the MBTA as a bus driver in South Boston. After his time with the MBTA, Richard opened his first business, South Boston Driving Academy, where he taught members of his community how to drive.

Years later, Richard went on to establish his own transportation service, Aisling Car Service, based in Merrimack, NH. Through his work, he gained many loyal clients and made countless friends. He was known for going out of his way to help others and came highly recommended by those he served. Richard took great pride in his business and cherished the memories he made throughout the years.

Richard loved his family, music, comedies, storage auctions, trips to the casino, and simply relaxing. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and often bragged about them to anyone who would listen. Elvis Presley and Jimmy Buffett were his favorite artists, especially enjoying live recordings of their music. Those who knew Richard will remember him as a joker who was always trying to make others laugh or smile, even when they didn’t want to. He was quick with his comebacks and kept everyone on their toes. He will be truly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Saint Monica Parish, 331 Old Colony Ave., South Boston, MA 02127. Services will conclude following the Funeral Mass.
