Richard Lee Lyons, 62, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

A proud graduate of Trinity High School, Class of 1981, Richard played baseball in his youth and carried that team spirit with him throughout his life. He spent his career in the restaurant service industry, where his dedication, skill, and kindness left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike.

Richard’s happiest moments were often the simplest ones—cooking meals for family, cheering on the Louisville Cardinals and Miami Dolphins, and making memories with his beloved children and grandchildren. In earlier years he could often be found on the golf course enjoying time outdoors with good friends.

He was a loving father to Christopher Lyons (Karen), Michael Lyons (Courtney Hall), and Madison Miller, and a proud grandfather to Claire and Evelyn Lyons. He is also survived by his brother John Lyons (Lynn); sisters Judy Flores (George) and Linda Waggoner (David); Uncle John DeFevere (Lynn) and Uncle John Todd; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Shirley Lyons (Rone).

He will be remembered for his warm smile, his love of family, and the care he showed to everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Lane, Louisville, KY 40218. Visitation will be at 9 AM with a service beginning at 10 AM.

A private interment ceremony will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Richard’s memory to Trinity High School.
