Richard McCormick, 71, of East Hartford, Connecticut, passed away on February 6, 2026, in Manchester Connecticut. Born on March 3, 1954, in Manchester, Richard spent his life deeply rooted in the community where he was born and raised.
Richard was a devoted husband to Deborah McCormick and a proud father to Tyler McCormick and Brian McCormick and his wife Alicia. He also welcomed Megan Pilch into the family as Tyler’s fiancée. His family was the center of his world, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his grandchildrenCameron, Riley, Mackenzie, Avery, and Dominic—who were truly the light of his life.
He is also lovingly remembered by his stepmother Maryellen McCormick and his brother Steven McCormick. Richard shared close bonds with his extended family as well, including his brothers-in-law and their wives: Joseph and Michelle Balesano, Russell and Jenifer Balesano, Anthony and Suzanne Balesano, and Angelo and Stella Balesano. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews who will cherish their memories of him.
Richard was predeceased by his father Theodore McCormick; mother Barbara McCormick Hoehler; parents-in-law Richard and Jean Balesano; and brother-in-law Richard Balesano Jr.
Known for being kind but stern—a man whose bark was always worse than his bite—Richard had a deep passion for teaching children the game of baseball. Whether on the field or off it, he found fulfillment in mentoring young players and sharing not only skills but life lessons through sport. His love for golf was another cherished pastime that brought him peace and camaraderie.
A memorial service celebrating Richard’s life will be held at a later date.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on February 21, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 04:00 PM at Brooklawn Funeral Home 511 Brook Street Rocky Hill Connecticut.
