Richard T. Montague, Jr. of Roswell, Georgia, formerly of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. He was 85.
Richard was born in Rochester, NY, to the late Richard Taylor Montague, Sr. and Lois Ortalane Montague. He was a proud graduate of Ohio Wesleyan College, where he was an active member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and cultivated his love for the stage, appearing in the college's Summer Stock music program.
Following his graduation, Richard embarked on a distinguished career in the U.S. Air Force, serving his country for more than 25 years with honor and dedication.
Beyond his military service, Richard was a true artist, enriching the lives of many through his talents as an accomplished actor, singer, and musician. For decades, he graced the stages of multiple theaters and lent his voice to various choirs and choruses, sharing his passion and talent with the world.
Richard's greatest joy was his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara Schussler Montague.
He leaves behind a large and cherished family, including his sister, Lynn Stenylk, children, Christopher (Kim) Montague, David (Carrie) Montague, Charles (Therese) Robards, David (Stefanie) Robards, Renée (John) Pruitt, Michael (Karmen) Robards, Marc (Danielle) Robards.
He was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Richard will be deeply missed by his extended family and the lifelong friends who loved and supported him throughout his remarkable life. His warmth, his song, and his spirit will live on in the memories of all who knew him.
