Richard Everett Riggs ,78, turned in his final scorecard on September 20, 2025. Richard started his golfing adventure in 1946. His father, Walter, and mother, Elinore, raised Richard and his four siblings Aubrey, Melissa, Paul, and Marlayne in the small island community of Terra Ceia, Florida. Graduating from Palmetto High and eventually serving in the Florida Army National Guard, Richard never ceased being a scavenger and lovable character. As indicative to his endearing charm, Richard dedicated forty plus years to Delta Air Lines from an entry level baggage claims position to flight control. Settling into the Douglasville, Georgia golfing scene, Richard always found time for his golfing game, his best golfing buddy, Charlie Roquemore, his family, and friends. Still loyal to his former employer, Richard spearheaded the evolution of the Delta Golf Open non-profit, which has raised over three quarters of a million dollars for worthy charities. While his actual golf game may have been a little over par, his impact on family and friends was nothing short of a hole in one. He is survived by his wife of 30 years of marriage, Nancy Cary Riggs, sister Melissa Langdon, brother Paul Riggs, brother-in-law Pete Langdon, sister-in-law Nancy Lemke Riggs, sons David Riggs and SFC(R) USA Christopher Darren Riggs, daughter-in-law Amy Riggs, daughter-in-law Michelle Riggs, grandchildren Katie Niro, Ryder Riggs, Zachary Riggs and Aubrey Riggs. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 16, 2025, from 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM at TPC Tampa Bay 5300 W Lutz Lake Fern Road Lutz, Florida.
