In Loving Memory of
Richard Roy “Rich” Romine
April 18, 1944 – February 18, 2026

Richard Roy “Rich” Romine, 81, of Fountain Valley, California, passed away on February 18, 2026. He was born on April 18, 1944, in Long Beach, California.

Rich proudly served his country in the United States Army as a combat medic during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he devoted much of his life to his family and his community.

For nearly five decades, Rich was a dedicated member of Fountain Valley Little League. Over the course of 50 years, he served the organization in many roles, including numerous positions on the Board. At the time of his passing, he had just begun what would have been his 50th year of coaching. Generations of young athletes learned not only the game of baseball from Rich, but also the values of teamwork, commitment, and perseverance.

On January 29, 1966, Rich married the love of his life, Patti. Together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and pride. Rich was incredibly proud of his family and cherished every moment spent with them. Though he was known for being a little prickly on the outside, those who got to know him learned what a caring person he truly was.

Rich is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Patti; his three children, Mike (Michele), Kim (Erik), and Robert; eight grandchildren, Brooke (Ryan), Forest (Alex), Allison, Amanda, Taryn, Madison (Hunter), Christopher (Tiffany), and Zachary; and three great-grandchildren, Aria, Hudson, and Grayson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Frances Romine, and his brother, Ted Romine. His sister, Patricia Jackert, joined him in passing later the same day.

Rich will be remembered for his service to his country, his dedication to the Fountain Valley community, and his unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched, both on and off the baseball field.

A private celebration of Rich’s life will be held on March 22, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Rich’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
