Richard J. Schwartz

89 years of age and a resident of Fullerton in Whitehall Township, passed away peacefully on Friday morning March 6, 2026 in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Salisbury Township. He was the devoted husband of Carol A. (Kedl) Schwartz for 48 years.

Born in Stiles, he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Mary T. (Schimenek) Schwartz.

Richard was dedicated member of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church.

He was Vice President of the Northampton Area High School Class of 1954, and obtained his B.S. from Moravian University in 1958. An avid baseball player in High School and College, he was Captain of his Greyhounds team, and was inducted with them into the Moravian University Sports Hall of Fame. Till his passing, Richard remained a passionate baseball and Philadelphia Sports fan. He enjoyed his life memberships in the American Club of Coplay and The Liederkranz in Northampton. He and Carol loved their many trips to Austria and Las Vegas. Earlier in life he was a member of the Fullerton American Legion Post 367.

Survived by his loving wife Carol; sister Patricia Berner of Hanover Township; brother Joseph Schwartz with wife Arlene of Kriedersville; nieces Pamela, Michele and Melissa; nephews Dr. Edward, Joseph and Gregory; predeceased by brother in law Alfred Berner.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Joseph J. Kweder on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 10:00 am in Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Avenue, Whitehall, PA 18052, where his viewing will be from 9:00 until 9:45 am.

Interment will follow in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Cemetery Northampton.
