Richard "Rick" Alan Shuck, 76, of San Antonio, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on August 9, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Rick will be remembered for his contagious sense of humor, strength, faith, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.
Born on December 29, 1948, in Canton, Ohio, Rick was the son of the late Robert and Audrey Shuck. He graduated from Glenwood High School in 1966 and went on to attend Kent State University. On November 2, 1971, Rick married his wife Nora, beginning a partnership that would span more than five decades and serve as a lasting example of faith and commitment.
Rick's professional life reflected his tireless work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. He(along with his brother and best friend Gary Shuck) took over Timbercon Construction in 1986, leading the company with integrity and care. Later, blending his warm personality with his love of people, he purchased Gruene Coffee Haus in 2007, transforming it into a beloved gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
Outside of work, his true joy came from coaching softball at San Antonio Christian School. Coaching was not just a hobby for him—it was a calling.
He truly delighted in mentoring generations of young athletes with patience, encouragement, and faith.
Rick's life reflected his values: love for his family, dedication to God, and an unwavering belief in giving his best effort in all things. He is survived by his wife, Nora; daughters, Tina (Landin)Simek and Kelly Hall; Granddaughter Ashton Shuck who was like a daughter to him; brother, Gary (Beverly)Shuck; sister, Patti (Steve)Scheller and grandchildren Finley Hall, Peyton Simek and Parker Simek.
He now rejoins his parents, Robert and Audrey, in eternal rest.
A Celebration of Life Softball Game was held Sunday, October 5, at 10 a.m. at the San Antonio Christian School Softball Field.
May Rick's life be honored by the words of 2 Timothy 4:7- 8: *"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness..."*
