Richard (Dick) C. Simon of Hood River, Oregon, previously of Loveland, Colorado, and Fairmont, MN peacefully passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior on March 24, 2026. Born on July 13, 1925 Richard was approaching his 101st birthday. He was raised on a farm in Fairmont, MN to Peter and Bernice Simon along with seven siblings. He joined the US Navy in 1943 and served in the Pacific, Panama, and recognized as a WWII veteran. After settling in southern California he met and wed Louise Seaton in 1954. Four daughters created strong family ties in Glendale, CA where he was a masonry contractor. Dick's quest for adventure led the family to Loveland, Colorado in 1971 where he was best known for his creative stone masonry projects which grace many homes and public spaces to this day, including the entry to Benson Sculpture Garden.
If a project needed to be accomplished, Dick would not only be present, but would lend his creativity and personality to assure the timely and quality completion. He served on the founding board of Loveland Habitat for Humanity and Evangelical Covenant Church. His service is truly valued and enjoyed by many. Besides his community service, he enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing.
Dick was preceded in death by Louise in 1997, and by his second wife, Betty in 2024, as well as siblings Willard, Virginia (Austin), and Ruby (Steffen). He is survived by siblings, Roger (CA), Rollo (CO), Larry (CA), and Delores (MN) and by daughters Diana Boldt (Jan), Linda Simon, Colleen Simon, and Julia Tengwall (Allan), as well as five grandchildren, Jordan, Peter, Thomas, Elena and Kyle.
A graveside memorial service will be planned at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Loveland, CO later in 2026. We will miss him dearly and we all feel blessed to have had him in our lives. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends also in the many lives he touched over his 100 years.
