Richard “Dick” Sweeney, 87, passed away peacefully on October 16th, 2025, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Born on March 29th, 1938, in Aurora, Illinois. Dick was the son of Hugh and Mary Sweeney. He grew up in Illinois alongside his brother Robert “Bob”, who preceded him in death.
Dick shared a long and devoted marriage with his wife, Barbara Jean. He was a proud father to his daughter Becky (Ron) and son Jamie (Jessica). His grandchildren Darby, Riley, Jamie, Wesley, Evan, and Ryan were a source of great pride and joy.
In addition to his brother Bob, Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Mary.
Dick graduated from high school in Huntley, Illinois in 1956. He served in the US Army from 1959-1962 and was granted an honorable discharge attaining a rank of Specialist 4th Class as a tank mechanic. He spent most of his professional career at Dean Foods in Huntley, Illinois and was remembered for his special delivery of ice cream to the Huntley grade school students. Dick enjoyed playing golf, photography, travel, playing cards and was an avid Packer and White Sox fan.
A private service will be held in Hot Springs, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers or donations please visit or call a loved one.
