Richard Thomas Conarton, beloved brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, at the age of 85, just shy of his 86th birthday. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humor, and quiet strength that touched everyone who knew him.
A proud graduate of Holt High School, Richard carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and community with him throughout his life. He went on to serve his country as a paratrooper in the United States Army, a role that reflected his courage, discipline, and deep sense of duty.
After his military service, Richard became a dedicated small business owner in Leslie, Michigan, where he built lasting relationships and earned the respect of customers and neighbors alike. His work was more than a livelihood—it was a reflection of his commitment to helping others and contributing to the community he cared for.
Richard was known for his generous heart and his ability to make others feel seen and valued. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a story, or simply listening, he brought warmth into every room. His steady presence, gentle spirit, and gift for brightening even the hardest days will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by those who loved him deeply, including his sister Carol, many cousins, and friends who became family over the years. Though his absence leaves an ache that cannot be filled, his memory will continue to guide and comfort those fortunate enough to have shared in his life.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor him by extending an act of kindness to someone in need—just as he so often did.
