Richard G. Ursitti (Dick) passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on January 18, 2026.
He was the father of Susan Ursitti Sheinberg (Jon), Karen Schlaefer (David), Rick Ursitti, Christopher Ursitti (Kari), Marci Ohmer (Michael), and Jennifer Ellis (Charles). He was the proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren and great-grandfather of 12 great-grandchildren.
Richard was first married to Carolyn Joy Ursitti, who passed away in 1991. In 1995, he married Jacquelyn Collishaw, who survives him. Through his marriage to Jacquelyn, he is also survived by her children and grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Frank Ursitti; his mother, Helen A. Farrell Ursitti; his sister, Nancy Ursitti Bechtal; and his grandson, Daniel Anthony Ursitti.
A man of deep faith, integrity, and kindness, Dick was known for his humility, optimism, and generosity. He treated everyone with respect and compassion and was widely admired as a man of his word who lived with forgiveness and grace. He especially loved playing the piano and sharing music with family and friends.
Richard earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University at Buffalo. He spent 20 years designing distribution centers for Sears, Roebuck & Co. In 1978, he joined SDI, Inc. as a partner and innovator alongside his business partner, Don De Santis. There, he helped design and build distribution centers for the fashion industry as a systems integrator, incorporating advanced conveyor and sorting technologies into large-scale distribution facilities. SDI played a meaningful role in the growth of iconic fashion brands including Nordstrom, The Gap, Saks, Levi Strauss, and many more.
There will be a visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1501 Fremont Avenue, South Pasadena, CA. A reception will follow at the church, with private family interment at Resurrection Cemetery following the reception.
