Richard "Dick" Holbrook Wilder, 82, passed away on February 11, 2026, in Danbury, Connecticut. He was born on February 10, 1944, in Rutland, Vermont.
Dick earned his Bachelor of Science degree in English and psychology from Castleton State College in 1967. Following his graduation, he proudly served in the United States Air Force as a weather equipment technician and technical instructor and then pursued a career as an editor and technical writer.
Outside of his professional life, Dick was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, and golf.
Dick is survived by his daughters Cheryl Devault (Todd) and Wendy Stein (Scott); grandchildren Annabel Devault, Ella Devault, Braedan Devault, Lucas Devault, Holly Stein, and Nicholas Stein; sisters Lois Kerwin (Donald) and Martha Devoe (Ronald); a niece Anne Kerwin Frost; and nephews Scott Kerwin and Sean Devoe; and many grand nieces and nephews. He also maintained an amazing lifelong friendship with high school buddy, Dave Attwood.
He was predeceased by his parents, Bertram H. Wilder and Elizabeth Holbrook Wilder, a nephew Marc Devoe; and his fiancée, Ann Mercer.

A graveside memorial service will be held later this spring at East Clarendon Cemetery in East Clarendon, Vermont, where Richard will be laid to rest in the Wilder family plot.
