Richard "Dick" William Johnson, 75, passed away peacefully in his home on December 11, 2025, in Medical Lake, Washington. Born on November 6, 1950, in Spokane, Washington, Richard lived a life marked by dedication to his work, a deep love for his family and friends, and a passion for the simple joys that brought him happiness.

Richard graduated from Cheney High School in 1969. After high school, he traveled with his FFA group to Europe, where he visited Hungary, Germany, Scotland, England, and Denmark. He began his career at EZ Loader Boat Trailers, where he worked as a Quality Control Inspector from 1971 to 1991. He earned an AA degree in Quality Control from Spokane Falls Community College in 1980. In 1992, he began working for Boeing (later Triumph Composites) as an FAI inspector, where he remained until his retirement in 2013.

Throughout his life, Richard was known for his big heart, great sense of humor, and ever-present smile. He had a remarkable ability to fix just about anything. He grew up working on the family farm, where from an early age he honed these exceptional skills. Many winters, he could be found plowing the driveways of his Craig Road neighbors with his tractor, always happy to lend a hand.

Richard's hobbies reflected both his adventurous spirit and mechanical mind. He had a deep love for fishing, especially with his beloved partner Donna, on Lake Roosevelt aboard their pontoon boat. He also had a lifelong passion for the tractors he collected and restored with care and enthusiasm. His prized possessions included his 1955 Ford and 1959 John Deere models. He proudly entered them in the tractor pulls each year at the Spokane Interstate Fair, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow tractor enthusiasts. He was a member of the Inland Empire Steam and Gas Buffs. In addition, Richard enjoyed collecting guns, reloading ammunition, and participating in competitive shooting events. In his spare time he could be found cheering on Gonzaga basketball or spending cherished time with Donna, his pets, and family, especially his 3 granddaughters

Richard is lovingly remembered by his daughter Lesley Herrin (Mike); son Mike Johnson (Jen Foland); grandchildren Juliette Nau, Emmy Johnson, and Leah Herrin; sister Linda Johnson; brothers Steve Johnson and Gary Johnson; former spouse Ellen Johnson; and partner Donna Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Lois Johnson.

A celebration of Richard's life is planned for the spring of 2026. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.

Richard leaves behind a legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, humor, and unwavering support for those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
