Richard L. Williams Jr., 71, of Lafayette, Indiana, departed this life on April 1, 2026. He was born on January 12, 1955, in Gary, Indiana, to Richard Williams Sr. and Katie McKee (Williams).
Richard was a man of faith, strength, and service. He was the proud owner of RW Collision Center and had a lifelong passion for cars, which began in his youth. Affectionately known as “Uncle Ricky,” he was a guiding presence not only to his children but to many of his nieces and nephews, whom he helped raise and mentor.
In his earlier years, he served as a youth pastor and later as an Elder at Abundant Love Outreach Church. He was also actively involved in The Gideons International and Kairos Prison Ministry International, where he mentored and uplifted many.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Sills (Williams); his parents; his sister, Janice Thrash (Williams); and his sister-in-law, Linda Lewis (Sills).
He is survived by his children, India Williams and Ebony Sanders (Williams); and was the father of Jamall Williams; his son-in-law, Anthony Sanders; his grandchildren, Xavier Smith II, Anthony Sanders II, and Roman Sanders; his sisters, Katherine Glasco (Williams), Sharon Williams, and Kimberly Mitchell (Williams); his sister-in-law, Frances “Pat” Holmes; his step-sons, Dehandre Oden and DeVonte Thompson; and LaTanya Thompson, who remains a meaningful and active part of his life and family.
Visitation Friday, April 17, 2026, from 12:00 noon – 8:00 p.m. with family hours from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 West 11th Avenue Gary, Indiana 46404. Homegoing Service Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Life Renewed Harvest Ministries, 505 West Ridge Road Gary, Indiana 46408. Elder Anthony Edwards – Pastor Minister Kenneth C. Williams Sr. Officiating Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
