Richard Wolfe

1954 - 2026

Richard LeRoy Wolfe, lovingly known as "Animal," passed away on March 2, 2026, in Muncie, Indiana. Born on September 7, 1954, in Muncie, Richard lived a life full of passion, adventure, and dedication to his family and community.

A proud graduate of Southside High School, Richard had a lifelong love for motorcycles, classic cars, hotrods, NASCAR, and WWE. It was often said that he was born to ride. His enthusiasm for the open road and the camaraderie it brought led him to become a respected member and president of a motorcycle club. Though he retired from the club years later, his love for riding never waned.

After stepping away from the club, Richard continued to channel his creativity and skill into custom paint jobs and autobody work at Townsend's Tree Service alongside his good friend Geno. His craftsmanship and attention to detail left a lasting impression on those who knew him.

Richard had a generous spirit and a knack for bringing people together. He hosted countless fundraising events for various causes, often joking that they were just great excuses to throw a party. His gatherings were legendary in the neighborhood and beyond. Many fondly remember car trips with him to Brown County, Matthews Covered Bridge Festival, and James Dean events—adventures that often ended with dinner at Hooters.

Family was at the heart of Richard's life. He is survived by his children: William Wolfe; TJ Rotino; Jessica Wolfe (Jeffrey Kirby); David Wolfe (Jama Hale); and Matthew Wolfe (Mackenzie). He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Payshence, Karmah, Justice, Ghoest, Solomon, Hope, Truth, Malachi, Honor, Amelia, Harlynn, Hunter, Joshua, Genesis, Carter, and Emberlynn; as well as his great-granddaughter Cecilia Russell.

Richard cherished his extended family as well. In his second marrage he helped raise two stepsons; Dakota and Eric Redwine. He is remembered by his nieces and nephew: Robyn Brown (Matt Foy), Elisha Wolfe (Lamotta Roundtree), Ashley Rotino-Shirey (Mikki Leigh), and Ty Barker (Megan). His grand-niece Carline Wolfe-Roundtree and grand-nephews Xavier Sutton and Lupin Wolfe-Roundtree also held special places in his heart.

He shared a close bond with his ex-wife and great friend Leatha West (Johnny) and treasured connections with the Hartman, Gibson, Harnish, Smith, Pinkston, and Brown families along with the countless others adopted along the way.

Richard was predeceased by his parents William and Carol Wolfe; siblings Carlene Wolfe and Robert Brown "Brownie"; grandmother Dolly Brown; his nephew Robert Brown Jr. "Reaper"; ex-wife Kathy Wolfe (Shaffer); as well as other cherished family members and lost brothers who undoubtedly welcomed him home with open arms as they listen to the sounds of The Last Rev.

Richard's legacy extends far beyond his family ties. His vibrant personality touched everyone he met. Whether through his work or during one of his famous fundraisers or road trips filled with laughter and adventure—he left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

May Richard's memory bring comfort to those who loved him. His spirit will forever ride free in the hearts of many. A gofundme has been created for donations to celebrate Richard aka Animal one more time with an epic Hog Roast where all are invited and encouraged to pay their respects to the man he was and continues to be.
