Rita Julia Greaves

Rita J. Greaves, 73, of Manayunk, PA, died peacefully on March 12, 2026. She was a devoted and loving wife, sister, stepmother, and was affectionately known as "Cioci" to her niece and step-grandchildren.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was a lifelong resident of Manayunk. Although she worked at various jobs throughout her life, her true work—and her lasting legacy—was the way she brought family and friends together. Rita was known as the "glue" who kept everyone connected, always reaching out to stay in touch or reconnect. She maintained a long list of friends and family with whom she spoke regularly, never missing an opportunity to send a hello along with her love and positivity.
Rita also hosted numerous luncheons that brought family and friends together and helped keep those bonds strong. If she had your address, you could always expect a birthday, Christmas, or greeting card in the mail—a small but meaningful way she let people know she was thinking of them.
She will be deeply missed by the many family members and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and constant thoughtfulness.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Sowinski; her niece, Kate Sowinski (Erich Keyser); her stepsons, Brian (Kathy), Michael (Cindy), and Jeffrey; and her granddaughters, Hannah and Maggie She was predeceased by her late husband, John E. Greaves.
