Robert "Bob" Bareis Jr., of Knox, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, following a brief hospital stay. He was 66 years old.
Born on October 31, 1959, Bob was the son of the late Robert Bareis Sr. and Constance (Moraway) Bareis. He is survived by his beloved children: Carli (Nate) of Knox, Mandi (Adam) of Brunswick, and Robert III (Laura) of North Adams, Massachusetts. He was a proud "Little Papa" to Natalie, Charlotte, Eden, Adelle, Nora, Mason, and Savannah, who were truly the loves of his life.
He is also survived by his sisters, Constance Campbell and Cynthia Arno, who always took good care of Bob, as well as his brother, John, sister-in-law Jen, brother-in-law, Keith and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Tim Campbell, with whom he no doubt shared a joyful reunion.
Bob was a welder by trade, but there was little he couldn't do. He had a natural talent for working with his hands and took pride in staying busy, often picking up odd jobs once the regular work was done. In retirement, he found joy in the simple things-cooking, fishing, and spending time outdoors.
He was always happiest on the water or in his "little house in the woods," a place that brought him peace and comfort in his final years.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Ellis Hospital for the compassionate and thorough care they provided during Bob's final days and to all of his close friends who were always checking in on him.
Bob will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of family, and the way he found happiness in everyday life.
There will be no formal service, as Bob elected to donate his body to the Anatomical Gift Program at Albany Medical College. Instead, the family is planning a Celebration of Life, a party with close friends and family, just as Bob always loved.
