Robert (Bob) Beyer passed away peacefully among family on March 21, 2026, at the age of 85. Bob was born on Nov. 8, 1940, in Silverton, OR to parents Matthias and Ottilia Beyer and was the youngest of eight children. Bob was raised on the family farm and attended school in Mt. Angel, OR where he met his wife Pat (Patricia) Beyer. They were married in Salem, OR on Oct. 24, 1964, sharing a life of almost 60 years. Bob also served in the US Army and Air Force National Guard from 1962 - 1968.
Bob had a long logging career with Crown Zellerbach and then Yamhill Log Scaling Bureau. It was his job with Crown Zellerbach that originally brought him and his wife Pat to Cathlamet, WA in 1966. Bob and Pat originally made their home on Puget Island before finding their "forever" home of 50 years in the Elochoman Valley and lastly moving to Canterbury Inn, Longview, WA in 2023.
Bob was a quiet, hard-working man, who loved the outdoors. He especially loved fishing, along with hunting, crabbing, and clamming. He was an avid gardener and could always be found outside working around the home he loved. Bob also loved spending time with family and enjoyed the many drives he shared with his children in later years. Bob's memory will live on through his family and friends, and he will be dearly missed.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife Pat and is survived by his 4 children, Karen (Mike) Cole of Kelso, WA, Chuck (Heidi) Beyer of Cathlamet, WA, Debbie (John) Phillips of Kent, WA, and Betsy (Jason) Peek of Arlington, WA, 9 Grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held for Bob at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Cathlamet, WA on Thursday, April 9, 2026. The service will begin at 11:00am with the Rosary being said prior at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, and a light luncheon will follow at St. Catherine's Church. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests donations be made to PeaceHealth Longview Hospice in honor of Bob.
