Robert Dee Blaylock, 80, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Englewood, CO. Born on April 29, 1945, Robert, affectionately known as Bobby Dee and then Bob, was a man of deep faith and humor, who dedicated his life to his family, work, church, and his varied interests.
Bob graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1963 and soon embarked on a career marked by dedication and hard work. At age 12 his work career began when he took on a paper route. At 16, he began working as a soda jerk for Dolly Madison, and by 18, was a stocker at King Soopers. Bob went on to work primarily as a painter and wallpaper hanger, ending his career as a project superintendent for Denver Drywall Services. He was well known in his field as an expert whose expertise was solicited often. An accident forced him into retirement at the age of 77 or he probably would still be working - he loved to work! If not at his job, or home, he would be fixing something at the church or for someone else.
Bob was a committed member of Ken Caryl Church for the past 42 years, serving in many capacities. From co-teaching in the preschool, to teaching the singles and career-aged young adults. He served as a deacon and was chair of the building and grounds committee. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and his loving approach to his family and community. He genuinely loved to serve others.
A man of many hobbies, Bob was an avid water and snow skier, enjoyed the drag races, loved camping, hunting, and anything outdoors. He owned horses for a time which brought him tremendous joy. He had a huge heart when it came to all animals and they knew it. He would often bring home stray animals to care for and they never left!
Bob leaves behind a large and loving family. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandy; his children, Jill Bruso (Miles), Wendy Neely (Lawrence), Jason Taft (Amelia), Charley, Dylan, and Franklin Blaylock; and his grandchildren, Ethan, Elliott, Greyson, Sylvia, Shane, and Cora. He also leaves behind his sister, Sally Dixon and many nieces and nephews, along with a host of friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lucile and Leonard Blaylock.
A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at Ken Caryl Church in Littleton, Colorado, on February 14, 2026, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to a charity of your choice, honoring his legacy of generosity and compassion.
