We give thanks for the life of Robert Thomas Brooks III, a life created by God with purpose, passion, and love. Though our hearts are heavy, we gather not only in grief but in gratitude for the time we were blessed to share with him.
Robert was brilliant, talented, daring, funny, strong, mischievous, resilient, and full of life. God gifted him with a spirit that could light up a room and a heart that embraced living boldly. His laughter, energy, and presence were unmistakable, and those gifts will remain with us always. Robert lived with courage and enthusiasm. He explored many sports, wrestling, crew, karate, and was an accomplished fisherman. In speed roller skating, he rose to remarkable heights, ranking first in the region and fourth at nationals. Robert was also blessed with a love for the arts. He sang, danced, and acted in productions at The Elma Lewis School of Fine Arts and at the Wheelock Family Theater. On stage, he expressed the creativity God placed within him, sharing joy and inspiration with others. When he was not preparing a delicious meal, Robert would often be found tending the garden he lovingly planted for his mother five years ago.
In his final and most profound act of faith and generosity, Robert gave the ultimate gift. Through the donation of his heart, lungs, and liver, three lives continue. Even in death, Robert chose love; his "yes" became someone else's miracle.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory his loving parents, Robert Jr. and Janice Brooks, his devoted brothers Marcus Langston Brooks and Cyrus Akeem Brooks, and a host of family and friends.
