Robert G. Chelius, aged 82, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Clearwater, FL. Born on May 27, 1943, in Chicago, IL, Bob was a dedicated husband, father, and proud grandfather.
Robert spent his early years in Palatine, IL where he graduated from Palatine High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne, a testament to his dedication and commitment to his country. It is at Fort Campbell, Ky where he first met his beloved wife, Judy. After his military service, he returned to Illinois, where he and Judy, raised their children. He pursued a successful career and eventually retired from RR Donnelley. The couple later relocated to Clearwater, FL in their senior years to enjoy the warmer climate.
Robert was an active member of the Lutheran Church of Martha and Mary in Mt. Prospect, IL, for nearly 20 years, where he made lasting friendships. His involvement in the church was an important part of his life.
A committed family man, Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judy Chelius; his son, R. Glenn Chelius and Michelle; his daughter, Dana (Chelius) Rifkin and Todd; and his six grandchildren, Celine, Cole, and Christian Chelius and Andrew, Allison, and Alexander Rifkin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn V. and Irma Chelius, and his sister, Susan Chelius Dillon.
At this time, no services are planned. Bob will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family.
