Robert (Bob) Malen Dahl passed away on January 19, 2026 at the age of 86 in Burbank, California. He was born on September 27, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Malen James and Maida Magnum Dahl and was an only child.
He graduated from Jordan High School in Sandy, Utah, received a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah and a master's degree from The City University of New York in Brooklyn in television production.
Bob joined Children's Television Workshop as Director of Operations for the "Sesame Street", and "The Electric Company" television series. From there, he was hired at Imero Fiorentino Associates in New York and then Hollywood as Vice President of Production for shows, marketing and special events. While with IFA, he developed production credentials with such artists as Barbra Streisand, Lou Rawls and Neil Diamond and toured as producer for the video components of Presidents Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan's election campaigns. He served as production consultant on half-time shows for the Super Bowl and Orange Bowl, the Democratic National Convention and has produced major events for many Fortune 500 companies.
As an independent producer and creative consultant, he developed projects for an array of companies as well as producing the Pope John Paul II Mass at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, the national arena touring show of "The Wizard of Oz", as well as "Star Trek The Tour."
Bob was invited to work with Walt Disney Imagineering as Director of Creative Development and Senior Show Producer where he oversaw the creative direction, design, implementation and management of dozens of Disney projects for Euro Disneyland, Epcot and Disneyland. While at Disney, some of Bob's special accomplishments include "Outstanding Achievement" awards from the Themed Entertainment Association for "Honey I Shrunk the Audience", Test Track and the Millennium Village attraction at Epcot; and a U.S. patent as inventor of an interactive experience at Walt Disney World.
Bob loved music (especially jazz), fireworks, humor, magic, art, photography, the theatre, travel, playing piano, and a very special love of animals.
Bob was married to Kathleen Marchant (later divorced) and they had two children: Stephanie Keryth Poret and Jordan Alexander Dahl. He is survived by his wife Susan Janell Lustig, his children, and grandchildren: Tiraliese Poret, Ronyn Poret, and Brooklyn Dahl.
