ROBERT DIACZUK, age 78, of Philadelphia, PA, regretfully passed away after a 3-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease on February 28, 2026.
More affectionately known as Bob, he was the beloved husband of Ruthann (née Biener) for what would have been 50 amazing and wonderful years this year. He was the loving son of Walter H. Diaczuk and Elva M. Diaczuk (née Blascio).
He was also the little brother to “Big Walt” (Paula Diaczuk).
Bob was a devoted father to Laine (Cristina) and Justin (Danielle), and a wonderful, silly, and loving PopPop to Haley, Jax, Oliver, Vivianne, and Emma. He was also a proud Great PopPop to Cameron and Ava.
Bob graduated from Frankford High School in 1965 and was drafted into the United States Air Force in 1967, serving until his honorable discharge in 1973.
Before and after his service in the USAF, Bob worked at Provident National Bank—today known as PNC Bank—where he worked his way up from the mailroom to Vice President of Mutual Funds Operations before retiring at age 60.
Bob loved his many dogs, especially his last companion, Bear. He spent the remainder of his retirement years living in the Arbors community, where he could always be found cleaning someone’s windows, picking up trash, fixing mulch beds, shoveling snow, weed-whacking, pruning trees, or taking care of many of the things no longer required in an HOA community. He loved helping others any way he could, and everyone knew Bob could always be relied upon as a helping hand.
Bob loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed going out to eat with his grandchildren, often with a Philly cheesesteak in hand. He also loved working out and making sure he was always “stronger” than his boys.
He will be deeply missed by many, including his cats, Lacy and Fluffers.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 21, 2026, from 1:00–4:00 PM at the clubhouse at Arbours at Eagle Pointe, 2675 Veronica Drive, Philadelphia, PA 19116.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to organizations supporting Alzheimer’s disease or cancer research.
Robert William Diaczuk will always be remembered as a genuinely kind, caring, and generous man. His love for his family, his willingness to help others, and his playful spirit will live on in the many lives he touched. He was a devoted husband, father, PopPop, and friend, and the memories he created with those he loved will remain in their hearts forever.
