Robert (Bob) A. Dorne passed away on December 1, 2025, at the age of 83, after a brief illness. Bob grew up in Quincy, MA, the son of Eunice and Raymond Dorne. He attended Thayer Academy and Tilton School, before graduating from Syracuse University, where he became a life-long fan of the Orange. He was a long-time resident of Newton, MA, prior to retirement in The Villages, FL.
Bob was married for 48 years to Kerrin Rogers Dorne, and together they were devoted parents to their four children. He was fortunate to find such a caring and supportive spouse. Bob enjoyed long card games of hearts and bridge, coaching youth sports, aiding his children with their school and career pursuits, and he had an effusive passion for movies and politics. For his family, Bob was a fountain of advice, humor and support through all stages of life.
For 46 years, Bob owned and operated R.A.D. Employment Services, a staffing firm in Boston. R.A.D. was a family business in the truest sense. Through the years, the entire Dorne family worked for R.A.D., and the company assisted many friends and relatives in their job searches. Bob found a calling in R.A.D., as he derived a large sense of pride from the help he provided to many jobseekers, his success in creating a company, and his long-running client relationships.
Bob loved tending to his yard, reading history books, and ardently following Boston sports. The one constant through all his years was baseball. He idolized Ted Williams as a boy, played endless games of catch with his children, and later discussed the Red Sox as a co-host of the 'Rob and Bob Show,' a Saturday morning local sports talk radio show. Maintaining an active and curious mind, Bob aspired at different times in his life to be a songwriter, a joke writer, or a political speechwriter. He approached new people and new settings with humor, and he thrived from coaxing a smile or a laugh from the stiffest of targets.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his cherished uncle Stanley Jacks. He is survived by his wife, his four children and their partners: Kristina and fiancé Greg Trendel, Wesley and Jesse Kaler, Casey and Hope Rosenfeld Dorne, and Peyton. He leaves behind two dear sisters: Jackie Dick and Ginny Dorne. Known as Bobo to his grandchildren, he relished the growth of the Dorne family with the recent arrivals of Josephine, Cora, Margot and George. He treasured his relationships with his many brothers- and sisters-in-law, his nieces and nephews, and the deep sense of family that they brought. Bob will be missed by all.
