Robert James Fischer

Robert "Bob" James Fischer, 85, of South Windsor, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 24, 2025. Bob will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carol; his daughters Kristin and Kathleen (Paul); granddaughters Kelly and Gabrielle; twin brother Laurence; nephew and nieces Daniel, Julie and Laura, as well as extended family and many dear friends.

Bob was born in the Bronx, NY on August 18, 1940. He attended St. Philip Neri Elementary School in the Bronx and Power Memorial High School in Manhattan. He proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps for 6 years and went on to get a degree in Business Administration at Pace University concurrently.

At a dance in 1960, Bob met the love of his life, whom he would marry in 1964. In 1968, they bought their first house in Huntington, NY and adopted their twin daughters in May 1970. They moved to Stamford, CT in 1972 where they created a wonderful life with family and cherished friends for 49 years.

Most of Bob's career was in the sporting goods industry, including AMF, Raichle Molitor, and Airwalk. This was serendipitous as he loved participating in and watching sports. It began with playing stickball in the street as a kid and later moved on to baseball and softball. In his adult life, he enjoyed playing tennis and golf and skiing with his family. As a spectator, baseball was a constant in Bob's life since he was a child, a Yankees fan for certain. There wasn't much he didn't know about any team or player.

Bob was a beloved husband, devoted parent, and an adoring grandparent. The most important thing in his life was his family, and he was driven to provide the best life possible for them. He succeeded.

A man of unwavering integrity and generous spirit, Bob loved to socialize, was masterfully quick with wit, and well-liked by everyone. He will be greatly missed and loved past the sky forever.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Road in South Windsor, CT.
