Robert Franklin Smith, 53, passed away on April 22, 2025. Born on September 20, 1971, in Charleston, South Carolina, Robert spent most of his life in Miami, Florida, before relocating with his family to Naples, Florida, in 2023.
Robert was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Elena Smith; his children, Michael Smith, Tiffany Smith, and Allison Smith; and his parents, Jean Smith and Frank Smith.
Professionally, Robert served as the Information Security Officer at Tropical Financial Credit Union, where he built the Information Security Department from the ground up. He was deeply respected and well liked by his colleagues. Though quiet by nature, Robert was friendly, witty, professional, and unwavering in his work ethic. He led with integrity, humility, and compassion, never seeking recognition for his accomplishments. Around family and close friends, his sense of humor shone brightly. He joked about everything, even during his illness, always trying to ease the hearts of those around him.
Above all else, Robert was a family man. A devoted and loving husband, he worked tirelessly to provide for and protect his family. His love was shown not only in his work, but in his daily actions at home. He never saw household responsibilities as anyone else's burden as he shared in all of it. Whether helping with chores, supporting his wife in every task, or simply stepping in wherever he was needed, he was a true partner in every sense of the word. He was a hands-on and deeply involved father who never missed a doctor's appointment, a prenatal visit, or an ultrasound during his wife's pregnancies. His presence was constant. His support was unwavering. Everything he did, he did for his family. He lived for them. He was selfless, caring, and good in the truest sense of the word.
Robert had a deep love for football and was a loyal fan of the Miami Dolphins and the Miami Hurricanes. He also found peace and joy in nature, especially while boating, jet skiing, and fishing. He wholeheartedly supported his wife's animal rescue efforts, always ready to help wherever he was needed.
Robert believed in God and attended church with his family. He was recently baptized into the Catholic faith, a moment that brought him profound joy and spiritual fulfillment.
Robert's quiet strength, generous spirit, and steadfast love made the world a better place. He lives within the very fabric of his family's souls, present in all they do. His memory walks with them daily. He will never be forgotten. His legacy of devotion, humility, and unconditional love will endure in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
