Robert Wayne Gillett, 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 28, 2026, in West Jordan, Utah. Born on July 8, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Robert lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to his family and community.
Robert spent over two decades working for the Utah State Liquor Control Commission before continuing his career with Top Stop and Holiday. His strong work ethic and commitment to his responsibilities were evident throughout his professional life.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Robert served faithfully in various callings, including as a member of the Seventies. He cherished the gospel and found great joy in his faith and service to others.
Robert was a loving husband to his wife Vivian and a proud father to his daughters, Raquel (Mark) DuFour, Kathleen (Curtis) Lee, Sherrie Clements, and Kimberly Stubbs. Son Mark (Johanna) Gillett. He was also blessed with 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. He is predeceased by his parents, Calvin and Betty Gillett, and his sister Carol Gillett.
Family gatherings were at the heart of Robert's life. He loved playing cards on Sundays with family members, especially enjoying games of pinochle and skat. His passion for John Wayne was unmatched; he curated an impressive collection celebrating the legendary actor. Above all else, Robert treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Known for his quiet demeanor yet profound love for those around him, Robert had a gift for making people laugh and always extended a helping hand when needed. His kindness and unwavering devotion to family will leave an enduring legacy.
May Robert's memory bring comfort to all who knew him as they celebrate a life well-lived.
A Viewing will be held on April 2, 2026, from 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 S Redwood RD.
A Graveside Service will be held on April 3, 2026, from 03:00 PM to 04:30 PM at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive.
