With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Michael Kabat, who departed peacefully on January 26, 2026 at the age of 64. Bob was born in LaCrosse, WI on January 3rd, 1962. A graduate of Western Wisconsin Technical College, he was a tool and die maker by trade. Bob married his wife, Sandy, in 1988 and they moved to North Carolina shortly thereafter. Bob loved life - he loved music, hunting, riding his motorcycle, playing tennis, playing pool, and salvaging old cars and trucks (which he called "junkin"). But more than all of these combined, he loved his family. His wife, parents, five brothers, his two daughters and two grandchildren - one of which was born just two days before he passed. Our worlds will not be the same without him in it, but we are relieved that he is now free of the chronic illness, Multiple System Atrophy, that took his life after a brave ten year battle. However, this illness never dampened his joyful spirit. A private family gathering will be held in the spring when his ashes are released back home in Wisconsin.
