Robert Ernest Knox

1935 - 2025

With deep love and profound sadness, the family of Robert (Bob) Ernest Knox announces his peaceful passing on December 3, 2025. Born on November 11, 1935, Bob lived a long and full life defined by unwavering devotion to his family, quiet strength, and a steadfast kindness that touched all who knew him.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Anne Knox, who remained his constant companion and source of joy throughout their life together. He is lovingly remembered by their children: Robert Knox (Michele), Kathleen Lenhardt (Michael), and Karen Schramm (Daniel).

He was a cherished grandfather to Stephen Lenhardt (Katie), Christopher Lenhardt (Tabitha), Erica Knox, Kristen Lajza (Jeffrey), Andrew Schramm (Dara), and Robert Schramm (Amber). Bob also took great pride in his growing legacy of great-grandchildren: Tyler, Michael, Benjamin, Avery, Gabriella, and a baby boy expected in February.

Bob's professional life was one of dedication and leadership. He began his career as a truck driver for Carling Black Label, where he spent 10 years on the road. His commitment to his fellow workers led to his election as President of Teamsters Local 1038, where he served with distinction. Bob went on to complete his career as an International Representative for the Teamsters, overseeing the states of Michigan and Illinois. Throughout his career, Bob was known for his integrity, leadership, and tireless advocacy for the rights of workers.

After retiring at the age of 59, Bob and Anne embraced a new chapter of life. They split their time between Holiday, Florida, where they enjoyed eight months of warmth, and their beloved cottage on Lake Pleasant in Attica, Michigan, where they spent their summers surrounded by family and the natural beauty they both cherished.

Bob's life was also marked by his devotion to family, quiet generosity, and a gentle spirit that brought comfort and steadiness to all who shared in his journey. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will be held with enduring love.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 9th, at First United Methodist Church, 33112 Grand River Ave., Farmington, MI 48336. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. and a luncheon immediately after.
