Robert “Bob” Leal, 65, of Gloucester, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026.
Bob grew up in Gloucester, MA, and remained deeply connected to his roots throughout his life. He later made his home in York, ME, where he continued to enjoy the coastal lifestyle he loved so much.
He began his career as an Assistant Tennis Pro at the Corinthian Yacht Club in Marblehead, MA, where he first shared his love of the game with others. He later worked as a mortgage broker, but ultimately returned to his true passion—teaching tennis. Whether coaching beginners or longtime players, Bob brought energy, patience, and humor to every lesson.
Outside of work, Bob had a deep love for music and spent time as a disc jockey, curating songs and creating memories for those around him. He was rarely without a soundtrack, and his appreciation for music was something he happily shared with others.
Bob found peace and happiness close to home—taking long walks along the Boulevard in Gloucester, enjoying sunny days at Good Harbor Beach, and most importantly, spending time with family and friends. His greatest pride and joy were his children, Caroline and Jonathan, who will carry forward his spirit, warmth, and sense of humor.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, his love of music, and the deep, unwavering love he had for his family and friends. Bob lived by the simple motto, “go with the flow,” a reflection of his easygoing nature and the way he approached life.
Bob is survived by his former wife, Denise Leal and their children Caroline and Jonathan. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Goodick; his brother, David Leal and his wife, Claire; his sister, Carol Ciarametaro and her husband, Vincent; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James Leal, and his sister, Eileen Parisi.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where all can gather to honor Bob in the spirit he lived—with music, laughter, and love.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered always.
