Robert J. McEahern, M.D., affectionately known as “Dr. Bob,” 92, of Milwaukie, Oregon, passed away on March 30, 2026. He died as he lived—surrounded by his beloved wife, Barb, and his family.

Bob was born on October 30, 1933, in Denver, Colorado, to Francis M. and Marguerite H. McEahern, and was raised in Pueblo, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1959 and completed his medical internship in Flint, Michigan, in 1960. Bob then served for two years as a captain in the United States Air Force Medical Corps, stationed at Larson Air Force Base in Moses Lake, Washington.

Bob began his medical career in Gladstone, Oregon, in 1962. In the early 1970s, his practice moved to Milwaukie, where it became known as Westwood Clinic. That same year, he was the first physician hired by the founders of Willamette Falls Hospital.

Bob took great pride in a life devoted to service. He served on the Board of Directors at Willamette Falls Hospital and was also a member of the Willamette Falls Hospital Foundation. He contributed his time to the Clackamas Founders Clinic, providing care to underserved residents of the community. Bob volunteered with Willamette Falls Hospice for 20 years and spent many additional years assisting in the Willamette Falls Medical Library. He also gave his time to the King of Kings Lutheran Church Food Pantry and the Oregon Cancer Ski Out. Bob was always ready to help—whether it was a friend, family member, neighbor, or stranger.

He will be remembered as a man who found joy in both the wide world and the quiet corners of home. A passionate traveler, he embraced new places with curiosity and warmth. Yet his heart was equally rooted in the simple pleasures of life—tending to his yard with patience and care, and shaping wood with steady hands into objects both beautiful and lasting. Whether nurturing a seedling, crafting in his workshop, or setting off on another journey, he carried a deep appreciation for creation and discovery. His life was a testament to living thoughtfully, working with care, and finding humor everywhere he went.

Bob is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barb; his children: Nancy (Larry) Winter, Wendy McEahern, Rob McEahern, Jim (Lori) McEahern, Bill McEahern, and Kelly (Ron) Chapman, Jason (Kristy) Wille, Jennifer (Scott) Oleson, Terri (Bill) Gilbert, Tina Havelhurst, and Traci Henry; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the Abernathy Center in Oregon City at 2:00 p.m.
