Robert "Bob" Meacham, 95, entered his heavenly home on December 16, 2025, in Tyler, TX.
Bob was born on April 18, 1930, in Wendell, Idaho with the birth name of Harold Robert Meacham, but it was later changed to Robert Harold Meacham. His family was native to Roseville, Illinois, and eventually settled in Sunnyvale, California. Bob graduated from Fremont High School and lived most of his life in the south bay area of California but later moved to East Texas to live with family.
Bob served in the United States Navy and retired from NASA's Ames Research Center - Moffett Federal Airfield, Mountain View, CA. Bob was a skilled mechanic and drag racing enthusiast. On August 24, 1958, at the Half Moon Bay drag strip, his team set the world record time for gasoline powered dragsters, running 9.48 seconds at 150.50 MPH, driven by Jay Cheatham.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Wayne Meacham and Edna Irene Manuel-Meacham, and his sister, Gwendolyn Meacham-Ferris-Warta. Bob is survived by his children, Karen Meacham-Orton and Susan Meacham-Ploudre of Arizona, Linda Lowther-Waters of Utah, and Robert E. Meacham of Texas, his stepdaughter, Vicki Meacham-Lucero of Arizona, his grandchildren, Melissa Orton-Cortez, Ryan Orton, Melissa Lowther, John Lowther, Mathew Meacham, Robert J. Meacham, Joseph Meacham, and his great grandchildren, Jackson, Aspen, Chloe, Ciara, Elijah, Manuel, Cambria, Ollie, and Mia.
Bob's ashes will be laid to rest at the United States National Cemetery, Dallas-Fort Worth in early 2026 with a private service for family members.
