It is with heavy hearts that we share this belated notice of the passing of Robert "Rob" Norman Miller, a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather, who passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Rob was born on December 12, 1943, in Glendale, California, to Phyllis and Cecil Miller. From a young age, Rob embodied a spirit of kindness, curiosity, and dedication that would define his life. He lived each day guided by love, service, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

Rob spent most of his life in Bakersfield, California, where he graduated from East High School in 1962. He went on to proudly serve in the Army National Guard, demonstrating his deep sense of duty and patriotism.

In 1965, Rob married the love of his life, Judi Ann Allen. Together, they shared 60 wonderful years filled with laughter, adventure, and steadfast devotion to one another. Their marriage was a true partnership, a shining example of love, commitment, and mutual respect. Together, they built a warm and welcoming home for their two sons, Allen and Mark, filling it with joy, warmth, and lasting memories.

Rob earned his teaching degree from California State University, Long Beach, and dedicated his life to education, a calling that allowed him to touch countless lives. He began his career as an Industrial Arts teacher, later became a Driver Training instructor, and eventually earned his counseling certificate, serving as an Independent Studies teacher who helped troubled youth find new paths forward. His compassion, patience, and sense of humor made him a trusted mentor to students and colleagues alike. Rob's impact extended far beyond the classroom; in the early 1980s, he also served as a Bakersfield City Councilman, working tirelessly to improve the lives of those in his community.

To his family, Rob was more than a husband, father, and teacher. He was their steady anchor and greatest supporter. He was a proud and joyful grandpa ("Yapa") to five beloved grandchildren, each of whom brought immense happiness into his life. No matter the distance, Rob always made the effort to stay close, cherishing every visit, every story shared, and every moment of lightheartedness. His grandkids will forever carry his stories, his humor, and his quiet wisdom in their hearts.

Rob is survived by his devoted wife Judi, his brother Chris Miller, his sons Allen Miller (and wife Victoria) of Boerne, Texas, and Mark Miller (and wife Natasha) of San Diego, California, as well as his five treasured grandkids.

Rob's kindness, wisdom, and generosity left an enduring mark on everyone he met. He had a gift for making friends wherever he went and gave freely of his time, energy, and heart to anyone in need. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, Rob. You are deeply loved and will be forever missed.
