Robert William Ohman

Born August 21st, 1945 in Valley City, ND to William and Isabelle (Loberg). Bob passed away at home in Bismarck on December 8th, 2025.

Spending his early childhood in Dazey, ND the family moved to Cooperstown, ND in 1955 where Bob graduated High School. He kept busy with school activities, sports and Boy Scouts, eventually becoming an Eagle Scout. After high school Bob attended North Dakota State University (NDSU) receiving a degree in education and more importantly he became a lifelong Bison supporter and fan. After college Bob taught math at Bismarck High School and after a short stint in real estate, he was drawn back to education and taught at Mandan Junior High until retirement in 2007.

Bob was a key contributor in the development of the soccer community in Bismarck and the state of ND, first as a coach for his kids in Bismarck Soccer League (BSL) and then was the founding member of Capital City Soccer Club (CCSC) in 1985. He held numerous leadership roles within the local (Bismarck) community and the state and was instrumental in soccer being recognized as a sanctioned sport by the North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA) and the development of the Cottonwood soccer complex in Bismarck.

In his free time and later in life Bob enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, watching Bison football and spending time with his extended family and friends. Often the life of the party at family gatherings or playing cards with his buddies at the Eagles in Mandan. He loved the connections he made.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Isabelle Ohman, sister Arlene Rupp, brother Kenneth Ohman and brother-in-law Gerald Tveito.

He is survived by his children, Larry (Laura) Ohman of Junction City, OR and Paul Ohman (Pamela Hickey) of Tacoma, WA. His two beloved grandchildren: Mariah and Christopher Ohman of Junction City, OR. His sister, Donna Lou Tveito of Linton, ND and a very special brother Larry Ohman of Mandan, ND. He leaves a lasting memory with numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses!

Services will be held on January 3rd at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck. Visitation from 1pm to 3pm and service to follow immediately after. A reception will be held at the Mandan Eagles Club starting at 5pm. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to Capital City Soccer Club in Bob’s honor to continue the mission he started “bring the joy of soccer to every child who wants to play, without financial barriers”. Join us for the service and/or the reception and dress in either your Bison gear or favorite soccer uniform is encouraged.
