Robert Pearce, 78, of West Hartford, passed away on January 20 surrounded by his family and close friends.
Bob was born in Sacramento, CA and spent part of his youth following his father's Air Force assignments to Cuba, Panama, and Peru. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1969, after which he spent six years on active duty as an officer on the USS Sam Rayburn in the Navy's nuclear propulsion program. After leaving the Navy, Bob spent over 40 years in the commercial nuclear power business. During his retirement, Bob volunteered and served as board chair for the Simsbury ABC Program, which places high-performing students from underserved communities at Simsbury High School and prepares them for a college of their choice.
Bob is survived by his wife, Trudy Pearce, and his two daughters, Caitlin Pearce and Avery Pearce Mathew. Bob was most proud of his marriage to Trudy, his two daughters, his time in the Navy, and his involvement with Simsbury ABC. He and his family are forever grateful for all the good souls along the way in his life who befriended him, guided him, and generally smiled upon him.
Family and friends will celebrate Bob's life on Saturday, February 7, 12:00-2pm, location TBD, we'll update soon.
